Richard Ely brought over a ring given himby the King of France, and engraved with hisarms. And old tankard of Nathaniel Ely bearsthe same arms; but only three find in English heraldic authorities that theonly coat of arms registered to a family ofElly, or Ely, is the one we give here, withthe crest, taken from Burke.
