A Persian gold-inlaid kard, circa 1800. Sturdy wootz Damascus blade with chiselled back, partially decorated with gold inlays, and conically reinforced point. Gold inlays of flowers and tendrils on both sides of the base, grip ferrule and strap. Intact riveted grip scales of crystalline walrus ivory. Length 42 cm.
