Hong Kong. 1st November, 2014. The J Residence building where a 29-year-old British male banker Rurik Jutting, reportedly from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, allegedly murdered two Indonesian women, thought to be sex workers, by slashing their throats. His small apartment was on the 31st floor of an upmarket block of flats at 60 Johnston Road, Wanchai. One of the women, Sumarti Ningsih aged 25, was found wrapped in a carpet in a suitcase on the balcony. Cocaine and sex toys were reportedly found in the flat. The other woman, who went by the name of Jesse Lorena, though her real name is reportedly Seneng Mujiasi, was aged 30. The murders took place several days apart as the body in the suitcase was decomposing. The small upmarket flats are popular with young expatriates usually with good jobs. Wanchai has historically been the centre of the sex industry on Hong Kong island but many parts of the district have undergone urban rejuvenation.
