Cockenzie Power Station near Edinburgh
Cockenzie Power Station is a coal-fired generating station situated at Prestonpans in East Lothian, eight miles eastof Edinburgh on the southside of the Forth Estuary. Thestation, with its landmark twin chimneyseach 153 metres high, has an installedcapacity of 1,200 megawatts (MW)comprising four 300 MW units. Cockenzie has been generatingelectricity since 1968.
