Dr. Guth-rie is a member of the I. O. O. F., B. and P. O. of Elks, and I. 0. R. M.; has alwaysbeen an ardent champion of the principles of Democracy. His first entry into poli-tics was in the fall of 1901, when nominated by acclamation for the office of represen-tative. At the November election he defeated his opponent in a district normallyRepublican by five hundred, his majority being 79. Mr. Guthrie is a member of the standing committees on Asylum for Insane, Insur-ance, Manufactures and Commerce and Medical Colleges and Societies. (428]. MR. HAGENBUCH, of Champaign County. Edwin Hagenbuch, Republican, of Champaign county, served his second term as amember of the state legislature in the 75th General Assembly. He was bom in thecounty which he represents, was educated in the common schools and resides inUrbana, the county seat, where he is engaged in farming and stock raising. He iswell known in Masonic circles, and is now serving as Grand Secretary of the GrandChapter of Ohio. During both of his terms as Representative he was a member of theFinance Committee, and in the last session was chairman of the Committee on Rail-roads and Telegraphs. He is married and has a family of two boys. (429)
