Amelia Earhart (1897-1937) in Southampton, England, after the successful completion of her transatlantic flight in 1928, a year after Charles Lindbergh's solo transatlantic flight. Since most of the flight was on instruments and Earhart had no training for this type of flying, she did not pilot the aircraft. In 1932, five years to the day after Lindbergh's historic flight, Earhart made her own nonstop solo transatlantic flight.
