Bubble universes. Artwork of bubbles representing parallel universes. The bubbles representing expanding universes, each of which started from a Big Bang type of event. Some of the universes are connected by wormholes (funnel-shaped structures), a possible consequence of several theories of space-time, the fabric of the universe. Each universe is contained not inside the bubble, but on the surface of the bubble material, which represents space-time. The yellow circles appear as straight lines inside the universes. This theory of a multiverse was proposed by the physicist Andrei Linde.
