The original stone has disappeared. JohnAwodde died 30 July, 1525. His wife survived himfive years, and by will (Archdeaconry of Surrey, 174Mychell^ printed in full in Surrey Arch. Colls., VII, 20)dated 20 August, 1530, proved 17 March, 1530-1, inwhich she is described as widow of John Atwood ofSanderstead, desires to be buried in the church beforethe altar of St. Katherine.
