Cruz de Fierro, as the pilgrims pass over Monte Irago, 1504 meter high mountain pass, they find an enormous pile of stones at the summit, the result of a variety of ancient customs. Today many pilgrims making their way to Santaigo, a pilgrimage known as the Way of St. James also deposit a stone, often brought from home, as an act of contribution. The best time to reach this pass is sunrise.
