Sewage Treatment Plant, Bottrop


The Bottrop wastewater treatment plant is one of four central wastewater treatment plants on the Emscher River. It is operated by the Emschergenossenschaft. The treatment plant was built between 1991 and 1996 at a cost of 230 million euros. It purifies up to 8,500 liters of water per second. The four, 54-meter-high digestion towers have a total volume of 60,000 m³.
