Chapel of the Crusaders, because during the visit of Pope Urban II (1088-1099), a brotherhood was established which aimed to collect soldiers and funds for the liberation of the Holy Sepulcher - was built and covered with mosaics (1258), by Giovanni da Procida. The mosaic - heavily restored - in the center of the chapel represents Saint Matthew enthroned; above it San Michele Arcangelo, on the sides San Lorenzo, Giacomo, Fortunato and Giovanni. At the foot of San Matteo, you can see, in very small proportions, the figure of Giovanni da Procida (3). The sarcophagus contains the remains of Pope Gregory VII, who died in Salerno in 1085.
