In 1S55 he be-came a clerk with Ticknor & Fields, thewidely known publishers of Boston, intheir famous Old Corner returned to Worcester in vSeptember,1856, and entered the office of the regis-ter of deeds as head clerk, holding thisposition until the death of his father in1874, when he was appointed by the CountyCommissioners to succeed him as office he resigned in 1875, but waselected to fill it again in 1876, and bysuccessive reelections has continued to harvey b.
