Gow Was Without This Department For Some Months, and Noted a Marked Decline in Profits as Result iLF |ArIE meat business is of valueto the grocer as a business-*- builder for many reasons, stat-ed George A. Gow. Lock street, Hamil-ton. It unquestionably assists the gro-cery department to make a good show-ing, and under good management itshows a good profit for itself. But itis not so much either of these factorsthat make it appear of importance tome, but because along with this bus-iness usually goes the sale of vegetables,and a score of other incidentals, linesthat show a good profit, a business thatis usually lost to the store that has nota meat department, or at least, businessthat inclined to be very slim unlessit is joined in some way to a meat de-partment.
