The Edible Bus Stop. London's first Pocket Community Garden, after a major make over, is opened by Lambeth's Leader Lib Peck

From a barren scrap of land to London's first Pocket Park, the Edible Bus Stop has been on a long journey. The land was guerrilla gardened by its founders, the locals around Edithna Street, Landor Road, Stockwell. Funding was won from Lambeth Council's Neighbourhood Enhancement Programme and the Mayor of London to landscape the site. In this image, Lambeth Leader Lib Peck opens EBS while neighbours cheer her on in celebration. The Edible Bus Stop is situated next to the 322 bus stop. The EBS motto is "changing the world one bus stop at a time" and currently there are three EBS sites across South London. Edible Bus Stop has been featured in the Chelsea Fringe alternative garden festival twice and last year presented Riot of Colour at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. Sustainability and community are key.
