Before working on such aladle report the sticker to the will, if necessary, set the ladle asideIon? enough for the slag to harden,when it can be pried loose without dan-ger from FIG SI UNSAFE WAY OK HOLDING BAR FOR A SLEDGE. MAN HOLDING BARIS ON SAME SIDE AS STRIKER. Engine Room Force Before changing blowing engines ona furnace first notify the furnace blow-er unless it is an emergency change onaccount of a breakdown. In case of astop at the furnace keep at least oneengine turning over at sufficient speedto avoid any chance of its being that the flywheel does not turnbackward owing to the back pressure ofthe blast; few blowing engines will dothis, however. By keeping an engineturning over against the butterfly valvein the cold-blast main with the snortvalve open, there is the least chance foran explosion or fire in the cold-blastmain and air tubs.
