A German flintlock pistol,Joseph Hauer,Bamberg,circa 1750. Slightly swamped two-stage barrel,octagonal breech section,then round after a girdle,with smooth bore in 13 mm calibre. Brass front sight. The signature,"JOSEPH HAUER" engraved on the breech. Flintlock engraved with floral and hunting designs. Moulded walnut stock with brass furniture. The butt plate carved in the shape of a grotesque mask with inlaid bone eyes. Replacement ramrod with bone tip. Length 43 cm.
