Fertilize same as cabbage; be sure to use proper amount of borax. Space plants 18 inches apart in rows 3 to 3^2 feet apart. Harvest heads before flower buds open. One- fourth pound of seed will produce enough plants for an acre (1 oz. seed will produce about plants). 141 Italian, Green Sprouting Plants medium tall, rapid growing and pro- duce a large head of dark bluish green color at center of plant in about 70 days from date of planting. The head is a compact cluster of tightly closed flower buds. When the central head is cut, numerous sprouts de- velop from the leaf axis, each sprout termi- nating in small green separate heads. These are cut in lengths of 10 to 12 inches. Served in the same way as asparagus, forming a very tasv and nourishing dish.
