The Tubes, Fire Box, and Shell-plates are all of Wrought-iron, and consequently are notliable to break from expansion and contraction of themetal, as Cast-iron Boilers are. The Tubes are placed inthe Fire-box, and so arranged as to expose a veiy largeeffective heating surface to the direct action of the fire,the advantiige of which is obvious. There is no brushingor cleansing of Tubes requii-ed in this Boiler. A. S.
