Paradestraße U-Bahn underground railway station on the U6 line was opened in 1927 as Flughafen & was the world’s first direct connection between airport and underground train. The station opened in 10 September 1927 as Flughafen (airport) and at that time it was the world's first direct connection between a metro system and an airport (Tempelhof Airport). It was the new southern terminus of the north-south C ll line from Kreuzberg and It remained the terminus until 1929 when the line was extended Tempelhof. The platform is broad and four the stairways led to a large mezzanine from which two exits led into the airport terminal building When the airport was rebuilt in the 1930s as part of Hitler's plan for converting Berlin into Welthauptstadt Germania, the main airport entrance was aligned with the triumphal arch on the North-South Axis and the station was no longer in the correct position. It was renamed Paradestraße in January 1937. The exits to the airport were sealed and the size of the mezzanine was reduced The Kreuzberg station became the new connection between the U-Bahn and the airport and it was renamed Flughafen. The Paradestrasse station received a direct hit towards the end of WW2 and the severe damage resulted in closure. In 1946 the city planned to rename the station again, to Franz-Werfel-Straße but this never happened. In 1966 the C ll became known as Line 6 and in 1986 as U6
