Plant bio-control research. Plant pathologist using a high-powered compound microscope to examine the head and neck of a nematode worm. Nematodes can be a serious pest of agricultural crops. Ones similar to this have been seen to die after ingesting toxins from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) bacteria. This research is being done to see if nematode-specific toxins like Bt may be used as a future bio-control to limit the damage of these pests.
