MARLINE, Oscar Joseph, 2nd Bish-op of the Hillcrest Ward (GrantStake), Salt Lake Co., Utah, was bornAug. 27, 1891, in Salt Lake City, Utah,the son of Carl Harline and MathildaJohanna Peterson. He was raised andeducated in the Salt Lake City publicschools, in the L. D. S. high schooland later at the L. D. S. business col-lege in Salt Lake City. Soon afterhis baptism, Aug. 27, 1899, he becamean active Church worker and was or- dained successively to the offices ofDeacon, Teacher, Priest, Elder, HighPriest and Bishop. He acted as apresident of the Deacons quorum andlater as president of a Teachers quo-rum in the Wilford Ward; also as sec-retary of the Priests quorum. Afterbeing ordained an Elder by Levi North,. he filled a mission to California in1913-1915, and acted as secretary ofthe California Mission for 21 returning from his mission, helabored as a home missionary in theGranite Stake, and as a special mis-sionary to visit non-members of theChurch in the Wilford Ward, wherehe resided from his early youth, andwhere he acted as supervisor of thelesser Priesthood, and as ward clerkfor five years. In 1917 (Aug. 27)he married Lorena Le Cheminent inthe Salt Lake Temple (the daughterof Oscar Le Cheminent and HannahDavis, born July 25, 1890). Followingare the names of the children by thismarriage: Osmond, Alden, Glenden,Wesley, Richard and Dawn Etta. Fora number of years Brother Harlinewas a teacher in an Elders quorum, aSunday school officer, etc. He wasordained a High Priest by ApostleJohn A. Widtsoe and set apart as aH
