Protesters from Rescuing European Animals in Need and the newly formed Animal Welfare Party which aims to contest the European Parliamentary electioins, gathered outside Downing Street in Whitehall to demonstrate against the killing of stray dogs in Romania. They allege that stray animals are rounded up by corruptly run animal shelters who then leave the dogs to die of neglect or kill them in an extremely cruel manner, often bludgeoning them to death. They are demanding that the EU takes a strong stance against such practices.
