The Hollywood 3 cinema entrance in the Christchurch seaside suburb of Sumner on New Zealand's South Island. It is the city's oldest surviving cinema. The cinema opened in 1938 and has been screening movies ever since. It was originally known as The Stage Door. It now has three screens. The cinema did close for one day in 2013 after the earthquake for damage assessment but it reopened the following day having been cleared for public use. It also fell foul of the Corvid19 virus and was forced to close again in 2020 as part of the public lockdown.
