'Death of Sir Andrew Barton', August 1511, (c1880). Sir Andrew Barton (c1466 -2 August 1511) was a Scottish sailor from Leith, who served as High Admiral of the Kingdom of Scotland, he became notorious in England and Portugal as a 'pirate'. In 1511, cruising the English coast looking for Portuguese ships he and his ships were captured and after a fierce battle with Sir Edward Howard and his brother Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk, he died of wounds.
