Seismograph at Concordia base. Researcher pointing to a seismograph record of an earthquake, recorded at Concordia Station, a Antarctic research base. The base was completed in 2005. It is over 1000 kilometres inland, high on the Antarctic plateau at an altitude of 3233 metres, at the location called Dome C. It is a permanent, all-year research station, the third to be built in Antarctica, and is jointly operated and run by France and Italy. The location is used for geological, astronomical, meteorological, and glaciological research.
