London UK 01 May 2017 British actor Paul Mcgann known for his roles in Doctor Who and Withnail and I unveiled a blue plaque in recognition of Wood Street E17 as one of the most important centres of silent UK film production in the early part of the last century. The unveiling took place on the site of Precision Films Limited, the first of the local pioneering 1910 and 1926, 400 silent films were made by four film studios, two located in Wood Street itself and the others in the surrounding area. Productions included the 1916 classic The Battle of the Somme, the most successful British film ever made.@Paul Quezada-Neiman/Alamy Live News
