A downy nestling from Lapland, in the collection of Mr. , is characterized by the greyish-white of the streakover the eye, and the under parts ; there being a completeabsence of the yellowish tirit observable in many other nest-ling Ducks. The length of the windpipe iu this species is about nineinches and a half, the diameter of the tube slightly enlargedabout an inch above the bony labyrinth, the form of whichis figured ANSERES.
