A winter view of Sharp Edge and Scales Tarn on Blencathra (Saddleback) from the Scales Fell ridge. Blencathra is one of the NE Cumbrian Fells and dominates the A66 approach road to the Lake District just north east of Keswick. Sharp Edge is a popular route for walkers but involves some exposed scrambling and can be dangerous in icy or wet conditions. Accidents and fatalities occur on this route from time to time.
