Senator Taggart married, Novem-ber 11, 1884, Mary Elbra, daughterof Dr. A. B. Story, of Manchester,and has one daughter, Mary Esther,born March 31, 1886. He attendsthe Congregational church, and is amember of Bible lodge, A. F. of Goffstown. For the facts in the foregoing andfollowing sketch the writer is chieflyindebted to the Manchester Hon. It is remarkable how many of themost prominent and successful busi-ness men of Manchester are youngmen, many of them having scarcelyreached the age of thirty. Amongthese can be mentioned Hon. HiramD. Upton, the well known and popu-lar treasurer of the New HampshireTrust Company, which began busi-ness in that city December 1, is the son of Hon, Peter Upton,of Jaffrey, a member of GovernorMoody Curriers Council, and wasborn in East Jaffrey, May 5, was educated at Kimball UnionAcademy, Meriden, and graduated atDartmouth college in the class of taught a high school in Marlow in1877. While in college he was man-ager of the Dartmouth, and his effortsput that journal on a paying basisfor the first time.
