The team then headed up the Amazon River to provide medical care to people in remote areas of South America as part of UNITAS 45-04. Eleven partner nations including those from the United States and Latin America came together for the opening ceremonies

The medical team assigned to the 4th Force Service Support Group, 4th Medical Battalion of San Diego, Calif., examined 222 patients in St. Peter the Fisherman church along the NaNay River in Peru. The team then headed up the Amazon River to provide medical care to people in remote areas of South America as part of UNITAS 45-04. Eleven partner nations including those from the United States and Latin America came together for the opening ceremonies. The combined effort focusing on peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance operations is one of the largest multilateral exercises in the Southern Hemisphere.
