PACIFIC OCEAN (June 8, 2018) San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) fires its MK 46 – 30mm Gun Weapon System during an integrated live fire exercise conducted with the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) during composite unit training exercise (COMPTUEX). COMPTUEX is the final pre-deployment exercise which certifies the combined Essex ARG and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s abilities to conduct military operations at sea and project power ashore during their upcoming deployment in summer of 2018.
