The Weavers Triangle at Burnley on the Leeds Liverpool Canal in Lancashire England

The Leeds and Liverpool Canal is said to be the longest single canal in England constructed by one company. The Canal passes through Burnley, skirting its centre, along the Burnley section there are number of notable features: The 1,120 metres (3,675 ft) long and up to metres (60 ft) high, almost perfectly level embankment known as the 'Straight Mile'. Built between 1796 and 1801 to avoid the need for locks, it is regarded as one of the original seven wonders of the British waterways.[The 511 metres (1,677 ft) long Gannow Tunnel was a difficult tunnelling project.
