The accompanying illustrations show machinery which isdesigned to take a place between the wheel scraper and steamshovel, and to fill a vacancy as a ditcher in railroad mainte-nance of way, doing away with the expense and weight of thesteam shovel, as well as the expense incurred in hauling withthe wheel scraper at long Fig. 1.
