The death is announced at Angers, at the age of seventy-two, ofAlexander Boreau, best known as the author of the useful Flore duCentre de la France, of which three editions have been published(1840, 1849, 1857). M. Boreau was one of the school of criticalbotanists, and his numerous papers are chiefly upon segregate forms andtheir discrimination. The Societe Botanique de France has sufiered a very severe lossby the death of M.
