The lock of the Canal de Robine at the entrance to the historic centre of Narbonne.

Originally built by the Romans as an important connection between the Mediterranean Sea and the flourishing trading town, it was later reubuilt and connected to the 17th century waterway of the Canal du Midi. Today the Canal is no longer used by transport barges but is mostly an attraction for tourist boats.
