One of the eleven catholic cathedrals on the island of Cuba is the Catedral de San Cristobal in Plaza de la Catedral in the old town Havana, (Habana Vieja) in Cuba. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the seat of the Archdiocese of San Cristobal de la Habana. Buried in the cathedral until 1796 was the discoverer of the Americas, Christopher Columbus. In 1898, his remains were transported back to Saville, and laid to rest in Saville Cathedral in Andalusia province, Southern Spain.
