OCEAN (Nov. 24, 2016) Petty Officer 3rd Class Kayla Kazmierski from Clifford, Pa., participates in the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K run on the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Makin Island, the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, celebrated Thanksgiving while operating in the 7th Fleet area of operations with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
