The general features of the choroid rete of teleosts and of Amia are similar to those of the swimbladder rete mirabile but differences are noted: (1) The composition of the blood reaching the two retia may differ (Wittenberg and Haedrich, 1974) since blood comes to the choroid rete via the pseudobranch and to the swimbladder.
