James McGhee, keeper of the Govan Stones, 11th century grave stones kept inside Govan Parish Church. The Stones are known as "hogbacks" because of their distinctive rounded top. These grave stones were recovered in the grounds of the church and are believed to be modeled on the Viking Longhouses. Vikings settled in the Govan area in the 9th and 10th Century.
