It is formed of compactgreenstone, and was found in Stirlingshire. In general outline it closelyresembles a common Cumberland form, of which, however, the butt isnot sharp. Celts with an edge at each end are rare on the Continent, though theyare of more frequent occurrence in Ireland. One of this character, found in Dauphine, Finance,* has been engravedby M. Chantre. Another from Portugal f has been described by myself elsewhere. A celt of shorter proportions, butalso provided with a cutting edge ateach end, is shown in Fig. 78.
