The Buttermarket, Canterbury, Kent, UK

The name Butter Market was adopted some 200 years ago, replacing the previous Bullstake. This indicated that it was a place that bulls were baited with dogs. At the entrance to the Cathedral, The Buttermarket is a gathering point in the city and it also houses Canterbury´s main war memorial.
