From thefirst he has taken a deep interest in its prog-ress and has been a leading factor in push-ing it towards its present prosperous andflourishing condition. Mr. Pulcipher wasborn in Jefferson county, New York. March8, 1838, and is the elder of two sons (Har-rison is elsewhere represented in this vol-ume) born to Edwin and Matilda (Walts)Pulcipher. Both parents were natives ofXew York, in which state they were rearedand married. It was not until the fall of1855 that they moved to Michigan, settlingin Acme township, where they died, themother at the age of seventy-three and thefather when about seventy-eight.
