The tomb of Sir Ralph Hare, d. 1623, in the Hare Chapel attached to the Church of the Holy Trinity, Stow Bardolph in Norfolk.


An English translation of the Latin inscription reads: 'RADULPH HARE / ON THE DEATH OF THE MOST OUTSTANDING MAN / RADULPH HARE / KNIGHT / I LIVED ALMOST NINE TIMES EIGHT YEARS / (IF YOU TAKE FOUR AWAY): THENCE TO DEATH I SUCCUMB / AND FOR ME YOU, JULY, WERE THE MONTH OF MY BIRTH, / AND YOU, JUNE, THE MONTH OF MY DEATH. / IT WAS MY CARE TO BE OF SERVICE TO MY COUNTRY; TO FOSTER QUIET; / TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT; TO DEFEND THE CAUSE OF PEACE; / TO BE COMMITTED TO THE LAWS; TO LIVE IN WAYS OF MODERATION. / I WAS SMALL OF BODY: BUT THE NEIGHBOURHOOD SAID / IN BODY I WAS A PIGMY, BUT IN GOOD DEEDS A GIANT. // HIS NEPHEW AND HEIR RADULPHUS PLACED THIS / FOR RADULPHUS, HIS DECEASED AND BELOVED UNCLE / AND LIKE A FATHER TO HIM.'
