Sponge crab (Dromia personata). This crab lives at a depth of 2-100 metres and is found in the North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and connecting parts of the northeastern Atlantic Ocean. The carapace (shell) of this specimen measures 15cm wide. It is known as a sponge crab as young crabs use their last pair of legs to carry living sponges on their carapace for camouflage.
