Mute swan, Abotsbury Swannery, Dorset


Abbotsbury swannery is a managed colony of nesting mute swans (it is claimed to be the only one in the world) Benedictine Monks built a monastery at Abbotsbury circa 1040, and established the swannery to produce food for their banquets.
