At the Tonawanda substa-tion, located midway between Buf-falo and Niagara Falls, threepresent 400-kw. rotaries will bereplaced with three 1000-kw. ro-taries similar to the above. TheFillmore Avenue substation at Buffalo has also been re-equipped so that there are nowthree 1000-kw., one 400-kw. and one 2000-kw. rotariesin place. Connecting the new line with the substations therewill be two 1,000,000-circ. mil feeders from Buffalo,four of the same size from Tonawanda and two of the TO NIHGflRfl FULLS. From the substations tothe line the feeders will be carried underground. In its application to the commission for permission tobuild this line, the International Railway estimated thefollowing as the costs of construction: Right-of-way andreal estate, $850,000; bridges and culverts, $514,060;buildings, including one substation, three stations, twowaiting rooms and one shelter house, $122,900; track,line, grading, and contingencies, $1,800,000, and sub-station equipment, $110,500. An allowance of $160,000was also made for the sixteen cars described later, mak-ing a total estimated expenditure of somewhat morethan $3,500,000.
