Sally Ride on space shuttle Challenger. NASA astronaut and first US woman in space, Sally Ride (1951-2012) with a tool box on the mid deck of the space shuttle Challenger. She is in front of the monodisperse latex reactor (MLR) experiment. This is mission STS-7, which launched on the 18th June 1933. The mission deployed two communication satellites and carried a number of experiments.
