UK The Yorkshire Water operated Baitings Reservoir is less than 2 miles from the United Utilities owned Blackstone Edge Rservoir in Littleborough in neighbouring Lancashire, which is showing reduced water levels. The 1950s built reservoir, which opened in 1957, and took 10 years to contruct the Baitings dam stands lower at 840 feet, and shares a similar climate, being on the other side of the 1250 foot heigh Blackstone Edge is not showing any signs of significantly lower water levels despite the recent heatwave and minimal rainfall. Yorkshire Water have no plans to introduce a hosepipe ban, unlike United Utilities, who will bring one in on 5 August 2018. United Utilities lose 25% of the water in their pipes due to leakage.
