Soyuz and Orion spacecraft. Artwork of an Orion-class Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV, lower centre) connected by an adaptor module to a Soyuz TMA-M spacecraft (upper left, labelled in Cyrillic). They are participating in a joint deep space mission, travelling beyond Earth orbit (Earth at centre right). The Russian Soyuz TMA-M (crew of three) has been in use since 2010. The Orion CEV, since re-named the MPCV (Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle) is under development by NASA and ESA. Carrying a crew of 2 to 6, the first missions are expected to take place after 2020. The labels on Orion include a future AESA (All-Earth Space Agency).
