The Muezzin in front of the Meeran Jumma Mosque in the Galle Fort Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka's fourth largest city Galle consists of new modern Galle inland and the old Dutch quarter known as the Fort. It was an old Dutch fortified town enclosed within a chain of huge stone bastions that juts out into the sea. It is Sri Lanka's best preserved colonial towns with old churches, Mosques, Dutch colonial villas many now boutique hotels, restaurants and shops. The main Mosque stands at the heart of the Muslim quarter whose inhabitants make up 60% of the old town.
